Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona, AZ

In 1932 Marguerite Brunswig Staude, sculptor, architect, and student of Frank Lloyd Wright, decided to design and build a chapel. It was completed in 1956.

After searching all over Europe for a suitable place, she decided this 1000 foot rock wall near Sedona,AZ would be the perfect place. The chapel placed 250 high on the wall was conceived to be a monument to faith and invites people to spend time to connect with their creator.

Currently the Diocese of Phoenix and the St John Vianney parish mantain and administer the chapel.

The HDR photo is made using Photomatrix from 5 exposures from a Pentax 20D and a Pentax-DA 16-50mm ƒ2.8 lens.
